Winter Luau 5K and Main Street Mile
“Fake it until you make it,” is a phrase we often use to get us through hard times. Just act like you’re happy until you’re happy – or act like you’re warm until you’re warm. Well, if you’re suffering from those winter blues, why not act like you’re in Hawai’i by donning your best – or worst -- Hawai’ian shirt and participating in the Fourth Annual Chiro Med Winter Luau 5K and the Second Annual Main Street Mile in Belleville, IL.
The Winter Luau 5k and the Main Street Mile are fast becoming winter traditions in Belleville. Each year hundreds of runners and walkers don their tropical gear and take off in a valiant attempt to ignore the fact that it’s still winter for a few more months. It’s no wonder that this event is so popular. After all, once you see a man running a 5K in a grass skirt, all other 5Ks pale in comparison.
In addition to the 5K and the mile, there will be a post-race Luau held in the nearby Lindenwood University Gym.
Registration for the January 25th race is at 7:30am. The 5k start time is scheduled for 9am and the Mile Race will begin 45 minutes later at 9:45am.
Entrée Fees for the 5K, the Mile and both events are $25.50, $22.50 and $36.00 respectively. All proceeds go to benefit the Special Olympics and Get Up & Go.
Trophies and cash prizes will be awarded to the overall winners in each race as well as the team with the most runners.
